It is also a great way to be someone else for a day! Themes can be as subtle as having guests wear a single color (i.e. White Party) or as elaborate as having guests in full costumes.

Here are a few steps to remember when throwing your next themed event:

1) Determine expectations and limitations for your party.

How big is your venue? How many people can it hold? How much money do you plan on spending? ie: will you provide the food and drinks? Will it be a potluck? BYOB?

2) Brainstorm! Figure out what kind of party it’s going to be.

Will it be a dinner party? A dance party? A get-together?

3) Choose Your Theme.

Sometimes the theme will come automatically to you and you can just move forward from there. If you do not have a theme in mind, try brainstorming. What holidays are near? Where is your favorite place to visit? Are there any movies that you feel would be a great theme? What is your favorite time period? Sometimes, I just go to the party store and walk down each isle until I am inspired.

4) Now, the fun part! After settling with a theme, you will need to find items that bring the theme together with your party.

This includes everything from the invitations, to the food, beverages, decorations and costumes. All of these things can run from simple things that bring the theme to mind to extravagant items that are related to the theme.

5) Finally get everything together and decorate your place and get in character, with enough time to have everything just right for when your guest arrive!

Be picture ready! Guests are sure to take a lot of pictures at a themed event. A themed event put together the right way is guaranteed to be talked about for ages!

Themed events are always memorable. Have you been to or thrown a event related to a specific theme? What theme did you use/see?

I love 70’s theme parties. It’s very cool to ‘play dress-up’ as Foxxy Brown or somemone like that. I probably enjoy it because I’m a 70’s baby & I used to dress up in my mother’s clothes and she was a true party goer!
