Buying your wedding dress can be one of the most exciting days during your planning process as well as one of your most stressful days. You want to make sure you look like an absolute princess the day of your wedding, and ladies, relax and breathe, you will! But I must warn you of the three major no-no’s women must be aware of when dress shopping. Make sure you stay away from committing anyone of these wedding dress shopping crimes.

1) Do not take more than 3 people to the dress fitting. Of course a bride wants another opinion, but the problems begins when there are too many opinions. Too many opinions make it harder for you to come to a decision, and at times, make you feel more stressed. The fewer people attending the dress fitting the better, but if you must have more than one, make your cut off at three.

2) Do not buy a dress too small.  At times women have the idea to buy the dress a size or two smaller than their actual size to force them to lose the weight. That is a TERRIBLE idea. If you don’t happen to lose the weight originally planned, you are stuck with a dress that is too small and will then be uncomfortable to entire day and will not look the absolute best you can. Instead, have a weight loss goal and work as hard as you can to achieve it. A dress can always be taken in once you lose the weight, most of the time up to two whole dress sizes.

3) Do not try on a dress higher than your budget.  Make sure you go into your dress fitting with a budget in mind, and stick to it. Consultants may try to fit you into a dress over your budget, because it will benefit them, but be strong and say “no thank you”. It will be much harder to say no to the dress once it is on your body and you think it is the one. The truth is, you will only wear this dress for one day, and although it is the most important day of your life, you do not want to worry for the rest of it how to pay it off. There is the perfect dress in your price range, just don’t give up looking for it.

These three big no-no’s is something we can all be guilty of very quickly. But keep these in mind when going to your dress fitting and you will not regret what you are wearing on your big day. What were some things you regret doing while dress shopping?
