Give Me $100 And I’ll Give You A Makeover
03.10.10
When I moved to Georgia I wanted a new look but didn’t want to spend tremendous amount of money giving myself a makeover. With that mindset I put my skills to work and pinpointed on the most important aspects of my revamped look. My hair, skin, and overall appearance. Whether you want a fresh look for a new job position, big move, wedding day, or upcoming event, here is the way to do so.
Hair: Buy boxed hair color and do it yourself in your bathroom. This way you can get the color without spending enormous amounts in the hair salon. Once your hair is colored you can then go to an inexpensive hair salon around the corner of your house. Generally, I would not recommend a salon you are not familiar with, but to receive just a trim, any salon will do. Women underestimate the power of a hair trim. Cutting a few inches off adds life and bounce to your one dull and dead hair style. ($25.00)
Skin: I am not an advocate to tanning beds, but I do love spray tanning. Getting the color desired without the skin risks is a win-win situation. Find the nearest tanning salon and treat yourself to the spray tan twice between two weeks prior to your event or big day. My advice is to not tan the actual week of the engagement in order to take precaution. Also, moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize. I can not emphasize that enough. Keep lathering up the lotion so your skin can look as fresh as possible the day of the makeover reveal. (($30)
Overall appearance: Some women enjoy shopping and always need an excuse to buy a new outfit, and some ladies already have an amazing wardrobe. Here is what I recommend: wake up an hour earlier each day at least two months before the event and walk around your block a few times; walking is the easiest and cheapest form of working out. Even if you absolutely satisfied with the way you look, which all of us should already be, this a great for the soul. It clears your mind before your potential stressful day and allows you to release the negative thoughts you may be keeping captive. Consider it exercise for the soul. That way, with the extra money you have, you can use it towards a new outfit. I always recommend buying a piece or pieces that are chic but timeless. Examples being, a black dress, a nice wash pair of denim pants with a nicely pressed white button-down, or even a classic knee length khaki skirt matched with a simple black shirt. All these looks can be easily assembled with your leftover money, and can go from day to night time with a simple shoe change. ($45)
Tip: Look into department stores’ sales racks. They generally have remarkable deals on items of clothing, making your makeover outfit much easier to attain.
