Wedding Trend 2010: Peacock Feathers

06.02.10

The new wedding trend in 2010 is peacock feathers! I know, some of you may think I’m crazy, but the design and colors presented throughout the peacock feather can be implemented into a wedding in any form whether minimal or extreme. Here are a few ideas on how to incorporate peacock feathers into your wedding day theme:

Wedding Invitations – Plain white invitations accented with a peacock feather with a satin green or blue ribbon will be a big enough impact to begin the theme to your wedding.

Bouquets and Corsages – Feathers are a great new accent to flowers. Add a few peacock feathers through your bouquets to match your theme. Try to match the flower colors to the contrasting colors found in a peacock feather and balance it out with a white or ecru.

Centerpieces and Table Decorations – Sage green and teal blue linens will immediately create a vintage feel. For a centerpiece, take the flowers used in your bouquet and include some long, tall individual peacock feathers in the vase. You could also have small peacock feathers tucked into your napkins to finish your tables off.

Bridesmaid Dresses – Another trend in 2010 is mix-matched bridesmaid dresses. You can incorporate two trends for 2010 by dressing your bridesmaids in the variety of colors found in the peacock feather with bold royal blues, teals and greens.

Hair Accessories – (Think back to the movie Sex and the City) Remember the bird that Carrie Bradshaw wore in her head at her wedding that we all thought was a feather? Well, these hair accessories come in all shapes and sizes. You could create a breath-taking piece by adding a single peacock feather to your fascinator.

Wedding Cake – You may not want the peacock colors incorporated into your cake, but you could use iced white feathers. For example, try using a dotted line pattern when icing the feather shapes onto the main cake to keep it elegant.

When using peacock feathers as a wedding theme, the key thing to focus on is the details. Small touches create big impacts!
